General Information

The neutron generator, a key part of pulse neutron logging instruments. is a neutron source based on mini-type accelerator. It consists of three sections: neutron tube, high voltage power supply and control circuit. The desired pulse neutron beams may be provided by controlling the anode pulse frequency and the pulse width according to Deuterium-Tritium nuclear reaction principle. 14MeV fast neutrons produced from this reaction interact with mediums around the borehole. And then neutrons or Gamma rays are measured. which are produced from a series of reaction process. The corresponding data are processed and the relevant information of the mediums around the tools are obtained and the theoretical foundations are provided to geologists.

Applications

The modified slim-diameter neutron generator may mainly be applied in DSC mono-conductor multi-function waterflow logging tool, PNNG pulse neutron dual-spectrum saturation logging tool and SMJ neutron lifetime logging tool and be used to replace the neutron generators used in the above logging tools which are already owned by the users.Furthermore.it may be used in combination with other pulsed neutron logging tools.

- Neutron Yield:

  At the earlier period : The neutron yield is l.5 X 108 n/s when 70kV≤ VT≤ 80kV.

  At the latter period: While increasing the target voltage. the neutron yield may continously be ensured to be l.5 x 108 n/s

- The target voltage of the neutron tube is not greater than 95kV.

- The operation mode of ion sources: DC or the pulsed mode ( 100Hz~20kHz)

- The operation mode of high voltage: DC or intermittent status ( i.e: it is permited to increase high voltage or decrease high voltage instantaneously.)

- The stability of neutron yield: the change of neutron yield≤±10% within the whole temperature range while the parameters such as Va and VT, do not vary.
